AI Image Detector
Check whether an image looks AI-generated. The image never leaves your browser.

Selected images are decoded and processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Each batch first checks embedded metadata (instant). If metadata cannot decide, a local ONNX model scans the pixels — your browser downloads it once (≈172 MB), then caches it for later visits.

Two layers of evidence
How AI image detection works
We start with the strongest clues available, then use a local visual model only when the file’s metadata cannot decide.
Instant check
Read the file’s story
We inspect EXIF, XMP, PNG text fields, and Content Credentials such as C2PA. Generator names, prompts, and workflow data can provide a strong provenance signal.
When needed
Study the pixels
A small browser model examines the image for visual patterns learned from real and generated examples. It returns a cautious estimate, never a proof.
Private from start to finish
Your files, metadata, and results stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to PicSmash.
Built for batches
Select a single image, multiple images, or a complete folder. Every file gets its own result.
